Bonds stable

Government bonds (TLT) have the strongest long-term trend of the investments that we follow. Their uptrend has actually weakened slightly as they were flat during the past week. The Malaysian market (EWM) has a similarly strong uptrend though with a noticably higher risk; Malaysia has improved over the past week. Gold (GLD) is another good investment to consider. Corporate bonds (LQD), though they have a clearly lower expected return than government bonds, also have a lower risk. Stay away from biotech (IBB), financials (XLF), and Japan (EWJ). Government and corporate bonds

Government bonds (TLT) are once again the best investment of the ones that we follow. The Malaysian market (EWM) has a clearly lower expected return and a higher risk. The expected return for real estate stocks (IYR) is lower still, and their risk is a lot higher. The only fund with a risk lower than that of government bonds is corporate bonds (LQD), and they have a decent expected return as well. Stay away from biotech (IBB), energy (XLE), and Japan (EWJ). Gov’t bonds still best investment

Government bonds (TLT), though a little weaker this week than they were last week, remain the best available investment. The Malaysian market (EWM) is trending up — while it is too risky at the moment, it’s visibly improved since last week. Corporate bonds (LQD) are also in an uptrend and have very little risk right now. Stay away from Austria (EWO), energy (XLE), and biotech (IBB). Still in government bonds

Government bonds (TLT) remain the best available investment. The Malaysian market (EWM) is almost as good, though its expected return is a little lower and its risk is a little higher. As last week, real estate (IYR), though potentially a good investment, is way too risky. Corporate bonds (LQD), on the other hand, have about the same expected return with a very low risk. Holding on to government bonds

Government bonds (TLT) still seem like the only sensible investment at this time. The expected return for the Malaysian market (EWM) is about the same, though its risk is a little higher. Real estate (IYR) is a potentially good investment, but its risk is much higher. On the other hand, though the expected return for corporate bonds (LQD) is lower still than it is for real estate, their risk is very low, which makes them attractive. Government bonds a safe haven

Government bonds (TLT) appear to be the only investment that’s increasing in value right now. Gold (GLD), which we recommended last week, is still in a good uptrend, though its strength has definitely weakened. Malaysia (EWM), an emerging market, is performing similarly to gold. Like government bonds, corporate bonds (LQD) have a pretty low risk though they do have a lower expected return. Stay away from Austria (EWO), energy (XLE), and biotech (IBB). Real estate stocks undeterred

We’re staying with real estate stocks (IYR), as they remain the best choice from among the funds that we follow. Like the overall market, they’ve gained slightly over the past week. Other good choices include semiconductor stocks (SMH) and gold (GLD). Avoid foreign markets, such as Austria (EWO) and Japan (EWJ), as well as biotech (IBB). (follow: facebook, rss.)

Pharmaceuticals

Staying in Technology Multimedia Networking

A relatively minor adjustment this week. We’re still largely in the Technology Multimedia Networking fund, which we’ve been in for the past four weeks. Pharma, biotech, and Malaysia are among the other funds that are doing well.

Technology Multimedia Networking strengthening

As the Technology Multimedia Networking fund, which we’ve been in for the past three weeks, continues to gain, we are shifting even more money into it. There do not appear to be any major changes in the markets. Pharma and biotech are still among the other sectors that appear to be doing well, but we are still not touching them because of the possibility that they are overbought.
