Small cap outperforming again
on
2010/04/19 by
Alex, [TSP,Thrift Savings Plan]
We are switching back into the S Fund (“Extended Market”), which again appears to be outperforming the other TSP funds. The other funds within the TSP, such as the C Fund (“S&P 500″), which follows large US companies, are doing relatively poorly right now. (follow: facebook, twitter, identi.ca, rss.)

Multimedia networking stocks continuing to grow
on
2010/04/11 by
Alex, [ETF,Exchange-traded funds]
We’re putting more money into multimedia networking stocks as they are continuing to grow. This is the sixth week in a row that we are recommending these stocks. The top holdings for IGN, the exchange-traded fund that we are using, include Cisco Systems (CSCO), Research In Motion (RIMM), Juniper Networks (JNPR), and QUALCOMM (QCOM). (follow: [...]

Switching into Europe Pacific
on
2010/04/04 by
Alex, [TSP,Thrift Savings Plan]
The uptrend in stocks from the Europe and Pacific region has intensified since our last newsletter. They now appear to be outperforming small cap stocks that we’ve been in since mid-February. This switch into international stocks is consistent with the analysis that we did for this week’s edition of our ETF newsletter, in which we [...]

Staying in Technology Multimedia Networking
on
2010/04/04 by
Alex, [ETF,Exchange-traded funds]
A relatively minor adjustment this week. We’re still largely in the Technology Multimedia Networking fund, which we’ve been in for the past four weeks. Pharma, biotech, and Malaysia are among the other funds that are doing well.

Technology Multimedia Networking strengthening
on
2010/03/28 by
Alex, [ETF,Exchange-traded funds]
As the Technology Multimedia Networking fund, which we’ve been in for the past three weeks, continues to gain, we are shifting even more money into it. There do not appear to be any major changes in the markets. Pharma and biotech are still among the other sectors that appear to be doing well, but we [...]

Staying with networking and semiconductor
on
2010/03/21 by
Alex, [ETF,Exchange-traded funds]
No major changes in the markets over the past two weeks. In fact, we continue to recommend networking and semiconductor sectors in the same proportions as we did last week. Other sectors that are doing well include pharma, biotech, and insurance. In our Conservative allocation, we’re getting back into utilities, which remain relatively safe.

Networking and semiconductor stocks continue to do well
on
2010/03/14 by
Alex, [ETF,Exchange-traded funds]
Since networking and semiconductor stocks, which we recommended last week, continue to do well, we are recommending them again. Semiconductors are still in danger of being overbought, as are other sectors that are performing well, such as pharmaceuticals and biotech.

Small and medium cap stocks
on
2010/03/14 by
Alex, [TSP,Thrift Savings Plan]
It appears that not a lot has changed in the markets in the past couple of weeks. Our current recommendation is a minor tweak of the one we gave then — put a lot of money into the S Fund (“Extended Market”), but keep most of it in the G Fund (“Money Market”). As the [...]

Semiconductor and networking
on
2010/03/07 by
Alex, [ETF,Exchange-traded funds]
This week, we’re recommending two tech sector funds — one invests in semiconductor companies, the other in multimedia networking. Both funds appear to have good return and risk characteristics, though the semiconductor fund is becoming somewhat overbought. In our Conservative allocation, we’re putting almost everything into utilities.

on

Alex, [ETF,Exchange-traded funds]
The Korean stock market looks stable and like it has potential for more growth. We are putting some money into it, while keeping most of our funds in the money market.
