Nervous about the future

written by Alex on

Question: Alex, I have a question- if the market for the “S” Fund drastically declines before you write us June 1st would you notify us immediately?

I just put 10% in “G” & “C” and 80% in “S” and because I really don’t know what I am to follow for the “S” fund — I won’t know if it’s on a downward spiral or not. So i guess my main question is will you let us know if we should immediately get out of “S” and to to the safe-haven of “G”? I tried to do a little homework – if i want to know what the “S” is doing should I follow the Russell 2000 in the paper? As with the “C” all I know is to listen to the radio or TV and they announce that the S&P is gaining or losing. thx alex need your help.

Response:

1. Here are the indices that you should follow to know how each of the Individual funds is doing. I am also providing the appropriate links to Google Finance.

For more information, see my explanation of the TSP funds.

2. The next TSP newsletter is scheduled for Sunday, June 6. The first newsletter of the month comes on the Sunday before the first Monday of the month.

No, if the prices of the funds change radically, I do not expect to let subscribers know before the next scheduled newsletter. I only send newsletters twice a month, on a schedule.

If you are worried about it, I would suggest that you follow the Conservative allocation which is designed to be safer than the Balanced allocation. Also, if you ever have any questions or comments about what’s going on with the markets or the newsletter, feel free to email me any time.
